In recent years the SEIB Burghley Sponsored Ride has enabled riders to enjoy the unique opportunity of riding along the famous Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials Cross Country Course on the final day of Land Rover Burghley. Please see www.burghleysponsoredride.co.uk for further details.
Riders enjoy a 12km leisure ride alongside the huge fences and explore the tracks and pathways of Burghley Park while raising money for charity; thanks to the support of Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, Burghley Park, Stamford XT and the sponsorship of SEIB Insurance Brokers, 100% of the money raised goes to charity.
This is a great ride to do with friends, as a yard or club and is open to riders of 5 years and upwards so that families can enjoy this fabulous experience together.
Seventeen rides have now been held and cumulative proceeds raised for charity is now over £270,000. Numbers taking part have varied between 300 – 500 each year; the ride is suitable for horses of all ages, sizes and abilities provided they are fit and well. The ride allows walking, trotting and some designated cantering areas. There is no jumping.
Please note that horses must have been vaccinated to comply with Burghley Horse Trials requirements of a primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 – 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may take part in the Sponsored Ride having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose. Horses must have been vaccinated within 6 months before September 5th but not less than 7 days of arriving at the Sponsored Ride.
