Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

Stay awhile ... or come back?

Look outside the glorious parkland hosting Burghley’s horse trials and you will find another five star attraction; South Kesteven. Fabulous countryside, stately homes and castles, sumptuous gardens and intriguing heritage along with four charming market towns of Grantham, Stamford, Bourne & Market Deeping all waiting to be explored.

This is a place to seriously relax, unwind and explore, over three million visitors do just that every year, drawn by memorable places to visit and charming places to stay.

Stamford is sufficient temptation alone. As England’s finest Georgian market town which stands astride the meandering Welland River, it boasts glorious streets, intriguing winding alleyways dotted with niche shops, restaurants, delicious food outlets and buildings to take your breath away.

To the west lies England’s smallest county, Rutland. With its delightful towns and villages standing around Rutland Water. Ideal for fishing, cycling and water sports for the energetic or gentle walking or bird watching for a more relaxing visit.

Slumber where kings have stayed at the Angel & Royal Hotel in Grantham. Visit Woolsthorpe Manor the home of world changing scientist Sir Isaac Newton and walk in the footsteps of Baroness Thatcher, the UK's first woman Prime Minister.

Easton Walled Gardens have been rescued from dereliction to stupendous effect and are open during the season. The gardens also feature a selection of outstanding holiday cottages allowing visitors after-hours private use of the garden.

Castle lovers will delight in Grimsthorpe Castle’s sweeping drive, and discerning shoppers won’t want to miss The Engine Yard, Belvoir Castle’s rural retail village. Just down the road, DK Carriage Horses offer unforgettable horse drawn carriage rides, or take a narrowboat ride on Grantham Canal.

Archers fans will love The Bull Inn at Rippingale, offering accommodation and compelling evidence that the village’s agricultural past inspired the world's longest running radio saga.

From historic hostelries to golfing hotels, boutique B & B’s and farm glamping, stay wherever takes your fancy. There is so much to see and do, we greatly look forward to welcoming you to South Kesteven.
