Partial Closure of Burghley Park from Monday, 30th July As Site Build Begins
Burghley Park is to be partially closed to all pedestrians and unauthorised vehicles in the weeks leading up to this year’s Defender Burghley (30 August – 2 September) to ensure public safety during the site build and breakdown periods for the Event.
Event Director, Elizabeth Inman, said: “The support of the local community is integral to the success of the event and we are hugely grateful for the understanding shown by local residents during the partial park closure. The increasing demands of Health and Safety mean that we are required to close the central area of the Park to pedestrians and unauthorised vehicles for a limited period.”
The restricted area will be clearly signposted at key points in the Park to cover the period Monday 30 July – Wednesday 29 August 2018 (inclusive) and will then be re-applied from Monday 3 September to Friday 14 September 2018 (inclusive) to cover the breakdown of the Event.
Access to Burghley House and Gardens remains unaffected via the main Pilsgate Lodge entrance on Barnack Road while access to the Lower Park remains open and unaffected up to the cattle grid via Station Gates entrance on Barnack Road.
Defender Burghley continues to rank in the UK’s Top 10 Sporting Events* and generates significant revenue for the local economy.
