Belvoir hold their nerve to win LeMieux Pony Club Jumping

The LeMieux Pony Club Team Jumping came right down to the wire with the four members of the Belvoir branch collectively holding their nerve to maintain their first-round advantage of four clear rounds.

Their immaculacy continued with clears in the second round for Thomas Arkley (Hayestown Lancer), Olivia Cave (As Cool As Cobra) and, last to go under pressure, Hope Mussell (Vivendi Cruise), so that they were able to drop the four faults incurred by Imy Pugh (Dido de Moca).

A total of 28 branches competed for the Field Cup, with the top six going through to the second round.

The South Nottinghamshire branch was second with a total of eight faults, the Pytchley was third with 12, and Soham & District was fourth with 16 faults. The Cambridgeshire finished fifth, also with 16 faults, and the Newmarket & Thurlow were sixth with 20 faults.

The Essex team won the Harewood Cup for the best tack and turnout.

Harriet Caine riding Accept The Blue for the Soham & District branch was the inaugural winner of the Elizabeth Golby Horizon Cup, presented in memory of the late Liz Golby, who worked with the Burghley branch and masterminded the Pony Club cross-country runners.

Judged by Lucy Henson, it was awarded to the rider who most encompassed the Pony Club spirit, presented a harmonious picture and showed promise for the future.
