Fifth Day Announced For 2020 Event
Defender Burghley To Open For Five Days From 2020 Onwards.
2020 will see Defender Burghley open for five days when we welcome some of the rapidly growing number of amateur eventing athletes to compete in the entry level BE80(T) Championship on behalf of the sport’s governing body British Eventing. This will take place on the Wednesday of the Event, along with the long-standing ‘First Horse Inspection’ for the main competition.
For many the icing on the cake; Defender Burghley Horse Trials famous shopping will be open all day on the Wednesday.
Event Director Elizabeth Inman said “We see this as a natural progression for amateur riders at grassroots level to have the opportunity to ‘compete at Burghley’ alongside our elite international Olympic level riders. When combined with the prospect of an additional day’s early Christmas Shopping we are confident this ticketed Event will be well supported throughout the duration."
Dates for next year are: Wednesday 2nd September – Sunday 6th September 2020. Tickets for all five days will be on sale from the end of April 2020 via the Defender Burghley Horse Trials Box Office.
