Horsepower at its best
Twenty-nine immaculate horses were presented at the final horse inspection at Defender Burghley this morning.

Every single one
gleamed in the sunshine, none looking as if they had tackled a four-
mile, seriously challenging and undulating, five-star cross-country
course the previous day.
After demonstrating his
excitable nature at the first horse inspection, Lauren Innes
presented Global Fision M to the Ground Jury first, a slot normally
reserved for the also sensitive Vitali (the ride of Tim Price), who
followed Global Fision M up the runway. Gelmer, ridden by Selina
Milnes, was withdrawn before the inspection.
No horses prompted any
concern for judges Andrew Bennie, Valerie Pride and Christina
Klingspor, so all will go through to the showjumping later today.
The first session of
showjumping starts at 10.45am, with Emma Thomas and Icarus first into
the arena and Harry Meade's Et Hop du Matz running out of order,
concluding the morning's competition.
The top 20 starts at 14.30, led by Harry Meade and the second of his three rides, Cavalier Crystal, also jumping out of order.
