It’s Oscar’s time
Michael Jackson triumphed in the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse final for four-year-olds at Defender Burghley on his own exciting young prospect, Oscar, by the KWPN stallion Kitt SB out of Flair, by Quasimodo.
“He was impeccably behaved today and it all went according to plan. He really did handle the atmosphere like a pro,” said Michael.
The classy gelding earned the top jumping marks from judge, Nicola Wilson, to finish on a score of 85.
“I bought him just over a year ago from Mark Bosanko; he reminded me of [Laura Collett’s Badminton-winning ride] London 52 when I first saw him,” continued Michael. “One of my owners, Victoria Richards, backed him – he was totally feral and almost untouchable at first, but she did a great job.
“He's a dream, as perfect as a four-year-old could be. Obviously, he is still immature in his body but he's light on his feet, brave, athletic, and has a great jumping technique and is seemingly quirk-free. He’s the full package.”
Elspeth Williams and Milena took the runner up spot ahead of Catherine Robinson on Malawi Lancer, these two horses finishing on identical scores (82.25) with the final ranking being determined by the jumping scores.
