Defender Burghley Horse Trials launch Made In Oldstead picnic hampers with Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks
Defender Burghley Horse Trials expands its food offering with a premium picnic hamper offering from Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks. Made In Oldstead, borne from Tommy’s restaurants, The Black Swan, and Roots York in 2020, will provide a unique, premium dining experience package.
Defender Burghley Horse Trials (LRBHT) has expanded its food offering with a premium, unique hamper experience from Yorkshire-based, Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks and his team at Made In Oldstead.
The hampers will provide a luxury and unique picnic for spectators to purchase in advance of the weekend, to be enjoyed in front of the action. They will contain a multi-course menu, with snacks, with an option to include paired Banks Brothers canned wines.
Priced at £45pp (each hamper is £90), the hamper’s ingredients have been grown and foraged from Made in Oldstead’s farm and gardens or sourced from trusted local suppliers. The hampers comprise of everything from mid-morning snacks to a tasty lunch packed with reimagined classics, and of course afternoon tea.
Enjoy dishes such as hot smoked salmon served with potato salad and fermented chilli, caramelised onion and chicory root focaccia and lamb and rosemary sausage rolls. For something sweeter, delights such as strawberry, Champagne and elderflower cheesecake and blackcurrant and sour cherry scones with clotted cream are on hand for afternoon sweet treats.
Looking forward to the new project with LRBHT, Tommy Banks said: “Defender Burghley Horse Trials is such an iconic British event, and the team and I are thrilled to play a part in the action this year. For me, the food is always such an important part of being a spectator at events, and our picnic offering is sure to be an exciting aspect of the weekend’s events.”
Hampers are available to purchase now, via the Made In Oldstead website.
