Packed stands for final horse inspection
Thirty-nine combinations will go forward to today’s final showjumping phase at Defender Burghley Horse Trials.
The
top 10 positions after cross-country remain unaltered with the
overnight leader, Lordships Graffalo, looking magnificent in the
hands of Ros Canter, who will now turn her attention to adding a
first Defender Burghley title to her numerous other accolades.
There
were three withdrawals overnight — CHF Cooliser, the ride of Tom
McEwen, who was lying 14th),
Majas Hope (Pippa Funnell, 31st)
and Bally Louis (Holly Richardson, 36th).
Three
horses were sent to the holding box — FE Lifestyle (Jennie
Brannigan), Absolut Gold HDC (Nicolas Touzaint) and B Exclusive
(Lizzie Baugh). The first two were passed on reinspection, but,
sadly, B Exclusive was not.
Showjumping action has started for the lower placed riders, while the top 20 will jump in reverse order at 2.15pm. Immediately following this there will be a parade of Team GBR gold medal winners from the Paris Olympics in the Main Arena.
