Oscar is by the KWPN stallion Kitt SB out of Flair, by Quasimodo. He earnt the top mark of 10 for the final gallop to finish on a final score of 87.5.

“Last year I hadn't done much cross-country, but he's really taken to it. He's very bold and straight and has really impressed me in the first events we have done. He won his first ever event, a BE100, was placed in his other two BE100s, and has now successfully stepped up to novice.

“The aim will be to get him to five-star, he's definitely got what it takes,” said Michael.

Michael bought the horse, who is co-owned by Michael, Gwen Meacham and Heather Bell, two years ago from Mark Bosanko, on the basis that he reminded him of Laura Collett's London 52. So far it looks to have been a good call.

Storm Straker took the runner up spot riding Abydos on 86.75 with Austin O'Connor and Oldrock Amy in third on 84.75.
